1992: got  PhD in mathematics from Lancaster University, United Kingdom.

1992-1994: did post-doc in Qingdao Ocean University, China, studied physical oceanography and got married there;

1994-1998: started his research in atmospheric science at Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Research Areas

-----------------------------------------------------------

  • Data assimilation: Oceanic data assimilation for ENSO (El Nino and Southern Oscillation) prediction; Data assimilation for dust-storm prediction.

  • Optimal control problems in environmental sciences: Optimal control design of urban pollution, optimal control of river-estuary sedimentation; optimal control approach to weather modification problems.

  • Applied mathematics related to computation

On going Projects -----------------------------------------------------------

There are some projects going on. Including:

  • Natural Science Foundation of China's "Distinguished Young Scientist" Project
